Timeline
Year 1982
Vikas Mattur, the founder of Hugsac was born in a small sanskrit village in Southern India (Mattur). He lived with his parents, three older brothers and an older sister. Despite their modest means, his father ensured that all his children received a good education so they could prosper in the future.
Year 2003
He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering to pursue his passion for design. He was honored by the Karnataka Government for his final year project on the Pneumatic Jacket and became a part of India’s growing IT industry. He moved to the US to work for big financial firms for 10 years.
YEAR 2015
At his friend’s place, he came across a Sac and fell in love with its concept and the pleasurable experiences it gave its occupants. During this time, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was meant to do greater, better things than sitting in a cubicle all day. He aspired to do something that tapped into his creativity and his passion for the finer things in life.
YEAR 2016
Realizing how much Vikas loved the Sac he had stumbled across, his wife gave him one for his birthday. He realized that the Sac had the potential to provide more comfort and support and he decided to improve it further. This one, well-thought-out gift set off in him a chain of inspirational ideas, grand plans and passionate research on Sacs and ergonomics.
YEAR 2017
After diligently studying ergonomics, spine structures and consulting orthopedic doctors, he finally founded the concept of next-generation sitting furniture, the Hugsac. He nourished it into existence with an unparalleled passion, dedication, and spirit.
He improved the Hugsac in every sphere of comfort imaginable to bring to the market the very best of sacs. From selecting the perfect fabric to equipping it with the best density foams to ensure maximum spine support, he developed over 25 prototypes and shared them with family and friends for feedback on improving it further.
YEAR 2018
Based on the feedback and further research, the product was modified multiple times. He tried combining various densities of supersensitive polyurethane foam in sacs of varying sizes. After a year of experimenting and testing, the perfect Sac was finally, expertly created- the Hugsac.
Late 2018
Supremely proud of his creation, he initially started supplying the product to other countries and decided to bring it to India too. Now, the Hugsac is successfully providing comfort and spreading happiness all over India.
